Beamish is a large open-air museum where you walk through recreated historic streets and meet costumed staff demonstrating traditional skills. The site spans multiple eras: an 1820s Georgian landscape and Pockerley Old Hall with gardens; an 1900s Edwardian town, pit village and colliery; a 1940s farm with Land Girls and Home Guard; and 1950s town and upland farm. Trams and vintage buses operate on a circular route throughout the day. Food outlets are scattered across the site, from fish and chip shops to tea rooms and pubs. The ground is uneven in places with steep slopes and some stepped access to buildings; a wheelchair-accessible vehicle operates on-call. An Unlimited Pass lets you visit as many times as you like in a year.
