Palace Green Library sits at the heart of Durham's UNESCO World Heritage Site, between the Castle and the Cathedral. The complex comprises several attractions in one: the Museum of Archaeology (charting Durham's story from prehistory to modern times), Cosin's Library (a beautiful late 17th-century library open to the public), the DLI Gallery, and the Durham World Heritage Site Visitor Centre.

The Museum of Archaeology has a range of family-friendly activities and workshops, with exhibits spanning 250,000 years of history. Cosin's Library offers a glimpse into a historic 17th-century library. All attractions in the complex are free to visit.

Palace Green Library is an indoor attraction and makes a great rainy-day option in Durham. It is located a five-minute walk from Durham Market Place. Note that visitor parking is not available on Palace Green, but disabled parking may be arranged by contacting the Palace Green security office.
