The Museum of Chelmsford sits in Oaklands Park and tells the city's diverse stories through its galleries. You'll find archaeology and local finds, social history and natural history displays — including a popular live beehive that has become a firm favourite with repeat visitors. The permanent collections span from ancient fossils to Iron Age coins. The museum runs family activities through school holidays, including Boris Bear Cubs sessions for children under 5, and seasonal exhibitions such as the Great Baddow Coin Hoard displays. The Hive cafe is on site.
Summer (Apr-Oct): 10:00-17:00 daily. Winter (Nov-Mar): 10:00-16:00 daily.
