Bocking Windmill is a historic post mill with a two-storey roundhouse, run by volunteers from the Friends of Bocking Windmill with Braintree District Council. Visitors climb through several floors to see the machinery and a small collection of agricultural and milling artefacts, and scale models show how parts of the mill worked. Guides explain the mechanics from the top floor down, which suits children interested in how things were built and powered. The ground floor has computer presentations and a photographic tour for anyone who cannot manage the steps. Opening is limited to a handful of afternoon open days each year, with group visits and school trips arranged by appointment. There is a small grassy picnic area outside, so a visit can easily be combined with a walk around the village of Bocking.
