Platt Hall sits in the grounds of Platt Fields Park, a short distance south of the city centre. The Georgian house was once home to the world's first dedicated museum of dress, and its collections of textiles, costume and domestic objects are still held here. The building now works as a community hub rather than a conventional gallery. It runs drop-in family sessions in term time, free creative activities for all ages at open days, and workshops where visitors can make things. Families visiting the park can combine a walk with a look around the house and its collections. Opening is linked to events and programmes, so check the current listings before travelling.
