People's History Museum tells the story of how democracy and working people's rights developed in Britain, using banners, badges, posters, photographs and objects from its large collection. The museum describes itself as family friendly throughout, with hands-on interactives and activities designed to connect children with the stories on display. Visitors can borrow sensory tools from access stations around the building and use a quiet room during their visit. Seasonal family events such as drop-in craft activities, banner bingo and a storytelling zone run through the year. Buggies are welcome, there are accessible toilets and plenty of picnic space, and a café and gift shop sit inside the building. The museum is in the heart of Manchester city centre beside the River Irwell, so it suits a rainy-day visit or a town trip combined with other attractions nearby.
Free family activities run through the year, including drop-in events and themed exhibitions; check the What's On page for dates.
