Torquay Museum is a Victorian museum of natural history, archaeology and local social history, run by a charity and based in a stone building on the edge of the town centre. Families can explore 400 million years of Torbay's heritage, from Ice Age animal bones and South Devon fossils to Egyptian objects and a reconstructed 1860s Devon farmhouse. A dedicated gallery covers the life of crime writer Agatha Christie, who was born in Torquay. The museum runs hands-on activities, trails, exhibitions and events through the year, with a summer blockbuster that is often aimed at younger visitors. A café and museum shop are on site, and a single paid entry ticket gives twelve months of access to the galleries and temporary exhibitions. It suits a rainy-day visit or a slower afternoon with older children who enjoy history and fossils.
Each summer hosts a blockbuster exhibition; temporary exhibitions and talks run through the year.
