Coldharbour Mill, near Cullompton in Devon, is one of the oldest woollen mills in the UK, in production since 1797. Today it runs as a working wool museum: families can watch weaving and spinning demonstrations on the factory floor, see the steam engines and boilers in action on special Steam Days, and join craft workshops run by experienced makers. Kids can explore the machinery, follow the education trails, and spot wildlife along the mill pond and riverside walk on the 12-acre estate. The Grist Mill Cafe Bar serves locally sourced cakes and light lunches by the water, and there is free parking, a shop, and step-free access throughout the main museum with lifts between floors.
