Torquay's Dinosaur World is a compact indoor exhibition close to the inner harbour, built around full-size and scaled dinosaur models set in landscaped scenes. Children can sit on some of the bigger beasts, brush through sand in excavation areas to uncover replica teeth, bones and claws, and try a family quiz that moves them round the displays. Information boards give facts about many species, which suits fact-hungry young dinosaur fans as well as adults who want something to do on a wet or hot day. The exhibition is all under one roof and is generally a visit of an hour or so, depending on how much reading and play each person wants. There is a dinosaur-themed souvenir shop with models, fossils and books. Food cannot be eaten inside, so families plan to eat before or after the visit in the town centre.
