The Plym Valley Railway is a volunteer-run heritage railway on the eastern side of Plymouth, where steam and diesel locomotives, carriages and wagons are preserved and restored. Passenger trains run along a section of the old Great Western branch line through the wooded Plym Valley, from the Marsh Mills site to Plym Bridge, a journey of about a mile and a half. For children who love trains, it is a relaxed day out with the chance to see engines up close, and there is a small shop with toys and model railways. A miniature railway also runs at Marsh Mills on some days. Running days are mainly Sundays from spring until November, with extra days through the year and special themed events, including steam and diesel days and festive trains. Dogs on leads are welcome on the trains.
Runs Sundays from spring to November, plus selected days and special events such as steam and diesel running days and festive trains.
