Saltram is a National Trust estate on the outskirts of Plymouth, built around an 18th-century house with Robert Adam interiors, a formal garden and a large park running down towards the River Plym. Families can wander the rooms, see the library and saloon, and look for the seasonal trails and Christmas decorations that run through the year. Outside, the garden has lawns, a lime tree avenue and garden follies, while the surrounding estate offers woodland and estuary paths, a short walk to a pillars viewpoint and a family-friendly cycle route. A café and a bookshop sit on site, and the parkland is open to visitors of all ages with dogs on leads. It suits a relaxed half or full day out, with plenty of space for children to run around between the house and the grounds.
