Large public car park on Beach Road; two designated disabled bays at the mill (reserve by phoning ahead). Families with buggies are advised to use Cornmill Close.

Hele Cornmill is a Grade II listed water mill that still grinds flour on site, and the adjoining tearoom bakes its cakes and scones with that flour. Families can take a self-guided walk through the mill workings and watch a short information film in the gallery about how the mill was restored and how it has operated over the centuries. The tea garden and undercover seating make it a relaxed stop for a cream tea, and the mill sits close to Hele Bay beach, so it works well as part of a coastal walk or a day exploring the Ilfracombe area. Dogs are welcome in the tea garden and tearoom, though not inside the mill. The mill is not suitable for visitors with mobility difficulties because of steps and stairs inside, but the gallery film and the accessible route to the seating area help. The site is open seasonally, so check the calendar before travelling.
