The Burton at Bideford

The Burton at Bideford is a contemporary art gallery and museum on Kingsley Road, beside Victoria Park in the North Devon port town of Bideford. The galleries rotate exhibitions by national, international and local artists, covering painting, sculpture, photography and ceramics. A museum section tells the story of Bideford and its maritime past, and a permanent gallery is devoted to North Devon Pottery. Craft displays show makers working in traditional and modern forms, and the building runs creative programmes and school exhibitions through the year. Entry to the galleries is free. A café and a gift shop are on site, and the building has a lift between floors, so it suits a relaxed visit with younger children as well as older ones who enjoy looking closely at objects and making things.
