Exeter Cathedral has stood in the heart of the city for nearly a thousand years, and its Gothic interior is big enough to keep a family busy for an hour or two. Children can follow the Cathedral Cat Trail, pick up an explorer backpack with books and activities, and have a go at brass rubbing. Seasonal family activities run during school holidays, typically including craft sessions, and there are storytime sessions for younger children. Older children may enjoy the guided floor tour, the audio guides, or the Treasures Exhibition, which shows the Exeter Book and other rare items from the Cathedral's collection. A café and shop sit beside the Cathedral, so a visit can be built around a snack and a browse. The building is a place of worship as well as a visitor attraction, so younger visitors need to be reminded to keep their voices down during services and quieter moments.
School-holiday and half-term family activities are scheduled on specific dates; check the What's On page.
