The Sidmouth Toy and Model Museum sits in a converted stone chapel just off Church Street, a short walk from the seafront. It grew out of a private collection of toys and model vehicles gathered over several decades and now includes donated and loaned pieces as well. The centrepiece is a working 00-gauge model railway with a small-scale model of the old Sidmouth station as it looked in the 1960s. Other displays cover pedal cars, Corgi and Dinky vehicles, tinplate toys, dolls and dolls' houses, teddy bear automatons, games from the past, and film and television merchandise. Children are invited to take part in a quiz and a Lego minifigure hunt around the rooms. The museum suits families with younger children and also grandparents who want to share their own childhood toys. It is a small, indoor visit, so it works well as a rainy-day stop or as part of a longer day in the town.
