Facilities

A small, volunteer-run museum in the oldest building in Honiton, on the High Street beside St Paul's Church. Its headline collection is Honiton lace, with examples from the 16th to the early 20th century, but the displays cover much more local history. Visitors can see fossilised remains of seventeen hippos found during roadworks in 1965, a furnished Victorian dolls house, children's toys, war memorabilia and Honiton pottery. Other galleries show coins, trade tokens and finds from a local metal detecting club, and there is a display on the old Allhallows School. The museum suits families with older children who enjoy history and objects, and it is short enough to fit into a morning in town. Entry is free.
Closed to casual visits from Christmas Eve until the 2027 season reopens on 15 March (per the venue's visitor information page).
