The Lyn and Exmoor Museum occupies the oldest surviving domestic dwelling in Lynton, a whitewashed stone cottage on Market Street. Its rooms display agricultural and domestic tools, a traditional Exmoor kitchen with an open fireplace and bread oven, maritime relics, and railway exhibits linked to the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway. Pictures and material from the Lynmouth flood of 1952 sit alongside a Victorian dolls' house and a collection of stuffed birds and small mammals, displayed in a room the museum describes as having its own ghost. The museum is small and suits a relaxed look around local history, with a welcome that its own pages describe as warm. The museum is currently closed for a full refurbishment, so check the reopening arrangements before travelling.
