The Old Brook Pumping Station is a former sewage pumping station on Solomons Road in Chatham, built in 1929 and kept much as it was when it stopped working in 1980. It is now run by the Medway Industrial Archaeology Group as a museum of local industrial heritage. Visitors can see the original machinery, including large diesel engines that were once used to pump floodwater, and a collection of exhibits on the history of the Medway Towns. Older children with an interest in engines, steam, or how towns handled drainage and flooding tend to find it engaging. The site is small and mostly indoors, so a visit suits a short, focused outing rather than a full day. It is also used by groups, and volunteers keep the machinery in running order. Opening is limited to set Saturdays, so families should check before travelling.
