Facilities
We haven’t checked this venue’s facilities yet. Give them a ring if something specific matters for your visit.
The Fleur de Lis Museum sits in an old building on Preston Street in Faversham and tells the story of the town from early settlement through its abbey years, Elizabethan prosperity and later industries. Visitors move through displays that combine words, illustrations, photographs and sound, and there are recreated dioramas showing domestic life, shops, civic life and the wartime years. Subjects covered include hop growing and brewing, fruit farming, gunpowder and charcoal production, brickmaking, and the Thames sailing barges and shipbuilding on Faversham Creek. A children's history sheet is available to complete during the visit, which suits older children who enjoy trails and hands-on questions. The museum is free to enter, but the staff recommend allowing at least an hour and a half, as there is a good deal to see. Note that the upper floor is reached by a steep staircase with no lift.
