Facilities

The Powell-Cotton Museum sits in the grounds of Quex Park beside Quex House, a Georgian manor that was the Powell-Cotton family home. The museum is known for its taxidermy displayed in natural history dioramas, alongside cultural objects from Africa and Asia. Guided tours of the house take in rooms shaped by several generations of the family, and the seven acres of gardens include woodland walks and a Victorian walled kitchen garden to wander. The site runs a programme of events, workshops and temporary exhibitions through the year, and offers school visits and home-education days. A day ticket covers the museum, house and gardens, so it suits a longer family outing rather than a quick stop.

Seasonal site: regular season ends 1 November 2026; winter Christmas openings announced separately.
