Facilities

A small heritage centre set behind St Lawrence the Martyr church in the village of Godmersham, a short drive from Canterbury. It holds records and artefacts for the parishes of Godmersham and Crundale and a compact exhibition hall that traces the history of the two villages and the wider Godmersham Park estate. The estate was once home to the brother of the novelist Jane Austen, so the displays suit older children and families interested in local history and the Georgian period. The main house is not open to visitors, but the surrounding grounds and church are nearby. The centre is small and open only on a few mornings each week, so it is best seen as a quiet, gentle visit rather than a busy day out. Families are welcome to explore the exhibition with a relaxed pace.
