A small heritage centre in the village of Otford in the Darent Valley, set up to tell the story of the place over roughly 4,000 years. Its displays have included a model of the Tudor Archbishop's Palace, Roman finds, historic village photographs, a long timeline and a model of the aviation pioneer Percy Pilcher. Visitors have also been able to pick up walk leaflets for the village heritage trail, which families can follow on foot. Children have been offered a mouse hunt linked to the village trail. The centre suits a short, relaxed visit on a family walk around Otford, and pairs well with the nearby Palace ruins and the village pond. Its current status is unclear: the Darent Valley project pages say it was closed for renovation, and the palace charity now describes its collection under a new name, so families should check before travelling.
