The Shoreham Aircraft Museum sits in a High Street building in the village of Shoreham, near Sevenoaks. It commemorates the Battle of Britain and the air war over southern England during the Second World War. The collection is built from aircraft wreckage excavated over many years by a local volunteer society, including engine parts, propellers, instruments and fragments from both RAF and Luftwaffe machines, shown alongside Home Front memorabilia, uniforms and flying helmets. Families with older children who enjoy history or planes will find plenty to look at, and the small size makes it an easy visit for a short outing. Children under 16 go in free, and a tearoom and garden sit alongside the exhibits. Guided tours are available as part of the admission price. The museum is small and quiet, so it suits relaxed visits rather than busy play.
