Deal Timeball Tower is a small museum in a four-storey Victorian signal tower on the seafront at Deal. Its centrepiece is the historic timeball mechanism, which families can see in action. The displays cover the tower's earlier use for passing messages along the coast, its later role in signalling time to ships, and how the timeball itself works. The venue's own site presents it as an educational outing suited to all ages, with a climb to the top floor that gives panoramic views over the coastline and the historic pier. Because the building is spread over several floors reached by stairs, it suits families with children who are comfortable with stairs. Opening is seasonal and restricted to certain days, so check the current calendar before travelling.
Seasonal opening: Easter, weekends in May, half term, summer Wed-Sun from June to late September.
