Ashford Borough Museum sits in a Grade II listed 17th-century building in the Church Yard, close to St Mary's church in the middle of Ashford. Its exhibits follow the story of the borough and its people, with a strong focus on the railway that shaped the town, including a railway room with a model train layout and memorabilia. Displays also cover the two World Wars and older periods of local history across two floors. The museum is small, so a visit suits a relaxed hour rather than a full day, and it works well for older children interested in history, trains or local heritage. It is run by a volunteer charity and holds an annual programme of featured exhibitions. Families can also follow the town centre heritage trail quiz, which can be completed for an online badge. The museum is seasonal and opens only in the warmer months.
