Kensington Palace is a royal residence in Kensington Gardens that is open to visitors as a historic palace. Families can walk through the King's State Apartments and a set of exhibitions that tell stories from the palace's long history, including the childhood of a future queen. A free audio guide comes with palace admission and is a good way to bring the rooms to life for older children. The gardens around the palace are a pleasant place to walk afterwards, and the Orangery and palace cafe provide lunch and refreshments. Relaxed sessions with fewer crowds are run on some dates, and the palace offers interactive sessions for school groups. Some state rooms are closed for re-presentation until 2027, so check the current position before visiting.
