St Paul's Cathedral is the working Anglican cathedral on Ludgate Hill, a landmark of the City of London whose great dome has dominated the skyline for more than three centuries. For families the draw is the scale of the building, the mosaics and carvings to spot, and the story of the Great Fire and Sir Christopher Wren. The cathedral runs a family trail and family events in school holidays, and offers multimedia guides aimed at children. Older children who are happy with stairs can climb to the dome's galleries for views over London, though these are reached by stairs only and younger children need an adult aged 18 or over with them. The cathedral is an active place of worship, so visitors should dress and behave respectfully, and sightseeing is limited to certain days and hours. Pushchairs are not well suited to the upper levels.
Sunday Dome Galleries open 15 March to 25 October 2026 only; check the site for dates.
