Facilities

The Peace Museum tells the stories of peacemakers, protest movements and non-violent campaigns through a collection of artefacts, posters, banners and artworks. It has a rotating programme of temporary exhibitions, so each visit can feel different, and its displays touch on subjects such as remembrance, refugees and the history of European cooperation. The museum runs school workshops built around its collection, with practical and interactive activities that encourage pupils to think about how peace is made. Its galleries sit on the third floor of Salts Mill, a large converted Victorian textile mill, which makes a short trip easy to combine with the rest of the building and the surrounding Saltaire village. It suits older children, teenagers and families interested in history and social change rather than younger children looking for play equipment.
Temporary closure for building works from 31 August 2026; reopening stated as mid-November 2026.
