East Riddlesden Hall

East Riddlesden Hall is a small historic manor house in the village of Riddlesden, just outside Keighley in West Yorkshire. Built in the 1640s for a Halifax clothier, it is a compact place to see period rooms over two floors, a Great Barn that recalls the estate's farming past, and a walled garden. Families tend to enjoy the outdoor side as much as the house: there is a mud pie kitchen, a trim trail with a small climbing area, and lower fields where children can run around and dogs can be let off the lead. The tearoom and shop are on site, and family activities and trails run during school holidays. Because the hall is modest in size, a visit suits a shorter outing rather than a full day, and the gardens give younger children room to move between the house and the play spaces.
