Falkirk Steeple Heritage Centre

The Falkirk Steeple is an early nineteenth-century landmark at the top of the pedestrianised High Street, later rebuilt after a lightning strike. Inside, a volunteer-run heritage centre runs guided tours through the two small cells that once formed the town jail, with panels on Falkirk's history since the Middle Ages and on the town's earlier steeples. Guides point out the original steeple bell and share stories of past visitors. The ground floor has the main display area, and the upper rooms that cannot be reached are covered by an audio-visual virtual visit. Because the upper floors are reached by a narrow spiral staircase, the visit suits older children with an interest in history rather than active play. Tours are short and guided, with booking recommended, and a downloadable learning pack is available for school groups.
