The COAST Discovery Centre is Scotland's first Marine Protected Area visitor centre, run by the Community of Arran Seabed Trust on the seafront at Lamlash. Families can explore interactive exhibits about the sea life of the South Arran Marine Protected Area, look into a touch tank and watch films about the marine world. Children often enjoy the marine-themed gift shop and the chance to ask staff about the wildlife found in the bay. The centre runs seasonal events such as marine trails and workshops, and there are grassy areas, tennis courts and a putting green outside to use after a visit. Entry to the exhibition is free, with donations welcomed. The site is small and quiet, so it suits a relaxed visit alongside a walk on the beach or a rockpool hunt.
