Chiddingstone Castle is a historic house and museum set in 35 acres of grounds in the village of Chiddingstone, near Edenbridge in the Kent countryside. Visitors explore the fascinating Japanese, Stuart and Jacobite, Buddhist and Ancient Egyptian collections, plus the Great Hall, White Rose Room, Victorian Kitchen, Library, Study, Four Poster Room and Servant's Hall. Children can get hands-on with discovery boxes containing handling replicas and dressing-up clothes, and follow the Trail of Curiosities or 'Can you Find' picture sheets around the rooms and grounds. Outside there is a Grade II* listed Victorian Orangery, the Fields of Eternity grass-maze garden, woodland walks, a fishing lake and spectacular views across the Kent countryside. The castle tea room serves light lunches, homemade cakes, cream teas and pre-booked afternoon tea, with seating in the courtyard. Registered assistance dogs are welcome in the house; other dogs are welcome in the grounds and courtyard on leads. The main collections are on the ground floor with step-free access; first-floor rooms are reached by staircase only. Tickets are annual - pay for a day and return free for a year.
Castle open Thursday-Sunday from 12 March to 31 October 2026 (plus Bank Holiday Mondays); grounds open all year round.
