The Captain Cook Birthplace Museum sits within Stewart Park in Marton, near the spot where Cook's birthplace cottage once stood. A traditional Nootka totem pole from Canada marks the entrance. Inside, six themed permanent displays use original artefacts to trace Cook's life as a navigator and his voyages across the world, with objects that illuminate the people and cultures he encountered. The museum runs a changing temporary exhibition programme and education activities alongside its permanent collection.
