A family day out built around planes. Raised viewing areas sit a short distance from the active runways, so children can watch aircraft take off and land at close range throughout the day. Retired aircraft are on site to explore, including the supersonic Concorde G-BOAC in its hangar, a former RAF spy plane and a retro Trident airliner; some can be boarded for an extra charge. There is a children's play area, a large picnic area, a cafe, and a shop selling aviation souvenirs for younger visitors and enthusiasts alike. Live commentary of airport operations is offered at weekends. Because it is outdoors and exposed to the weather, families should dress for changeable conditions. Guided Concorde tours need to be booked in advance, and the car park can fill at busy times.
Closing time varies by month; see hoursNote.
