Skern Adventure Appledore is an outdoor activity centre set on the edge of the Taw and Torridge estuary in North Devon, with the Atlantic surf close by. Families can book instructor-led sessions for children and adults, from kayaking on the estuary and surfing on nearby beaches to climbing, archery, a high ropes course and a land-based assault course. The centre also runs a school holiday adventure club for children aged 8 to 16, and its heated outdoor swimming pool can be hired by groups, friends and families. Half-day, full-day and multi-day bookings are available, and there is accommodation on site for those who want to stay. The centre has been running since the 1970s and is known for its residential school trips, so visiting families can expect a well-organised day with qualified instructors and a strong focus on confidence and teamwork.
