The Dartmouth Steam Railway runs a heritage line of roughly seven miles from Queen's Park Station in Paignton, past Goodrington and Churston, through woodland above the River Dart to Kingswear. Families can ride the steam trains, then cross the river on a short foot ferry to the historic town of Dartmouth and return the same way. It is run alongside a river boat company, so combined trips with a river cruise, a paddle steamer or a bus link to Totnes are also offered. Children enjoy the engines, the coastal views and the crossing on the water, and the Paignton station has a café and the site has a gift shop and toilets. Trips run on a seasonal timetable, with a Christmas Train of Lights in winter, so check the timetable before setting out.

Seasonal: open from February half-term to December per the venue's 2026 season news; the timetable varies by month.
