What’s there

  • Paid parking

Parking is in the Epping station car park, which is card-only pay-to-park and monitored by ANPR; the museum entrance is at the far end of the car park.

Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.

Epping Signalling Museum sits at the far end of Epping station car park, alongside the Central Line, and is run largely by volunteers. The main draw is a restored signal control room with a working signalling panel upstairs, linked to an overhead screen where visitors can guide trains around a version of Epping that once had a large goods yard. Outside and downstairs there is a collection of London Underground heritage, centred on a bright yellow locomotive that is being restored, along with donated railway signals and other memorabilia. Visits are usually guided by a volunteer who explains how the signalling works, which suits curious older children and teenagers as well as adults with an interest in trains. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. The site is small, so a visit is typically an hour or two, and it pairs well with a ride on the nearby Epping Ongar Railway.
