Facilities

The Cater Museum is an independent local museum in the centre of Billericay, housed in a period building on the High Street. Its displays cover the history of the town and the surrounding area, from objects and pictures to recreated rooms, including a mid-Victorian sitting room, kitchen and bedroom. There are also displays about Billericay during the Second World War. Families with older children who enjoy history, local stories and looking at everyday objects from the past will find it an easy, short visit. The museum also has a small garden to step into. Entry is free, and the museum is supported by donations and a Friends group. Because it is small and opens only on a few afternoons each week, it suits a relaxed trip rather than a full day out.
