Manningtree Museum is a small local history museum housed within Manningtree Library on the High Street, run by a volunteer group. Its displays use cases, photographs, posters and everyday objects to tell the story of the town and the surrounding villages of Mistley and Lawford. Because it is compact, a visit suits a short outing, and it pairs well with a walk around the town centre. The museum also keeps an archive of local photographs and publications, and the group offers walking trails that families can follow on foot. Older children with an interest in history and local heritage will get the most from the displays, and the group also runs talks and events through the year.
