Town Hall Gardens is a public garden in the middle of Chatham, set behind the Brook Theatre. The site was a burial ground before it was laid out as a formal park in 1905, so there are naval history links and older features to notice as you walk through. For families the main draw is the children's play area, which has been completely refurbished with new multi-play units, swings including toddler swings, springers, a carousel and castle and dragon themed graphics. Paths and entrances have been resurfaced and improved, and there are benches for parents and carers to sit while children play. It is an open-air, free-to-enter space that suits a short visit with younger children or a relaxed stop during a walk around the town centre. Medway Council runs the gardens and has been working on further improvements to the planting.
