Herne Bay Pier is a traditional seaside pier on the North Kent coast, run by the Herne Bay Pier Trust as a registered charity. Families come for the old-fashioned fairground attractions at the pier end, which include a carousel and a helter-skelter, and for smaller rides that suit younger children. Along the enclosed walkway a row of converted beach huts sells crafts, gifts and food, with a mix of cafes, takeaway stalls and a vintage tea hut. Free fishing and crabbing from the pier is popular with children, and bait and crabbing equipment can be bought on site. Seasonal events such as Santa's grotto and a light-up evening are held through the year. The pier suits a relaxed day by the sea, with views along the coast and a short walk from the town's beach and seafront.
Winter closing at 3.30pm and possible short-notice weather closures. Events such as Light Up the Pier and Santa's Grotto are listed on the venue's own events pages.
