Kent Showground

The Kent Showground at Detling, on the North Downs between Maidstone and the M20, is the home of the Kent County Show, one of the largest rural shows in the South East. Across three days in early summer, families can watch livestock judging, Young Farmers' displays, showjumping, a Grand Parade of animals and heavy horse and pony activities. The Living Land Village offers hands-on farming activities for younger children, with a small animal area and pony rides nearby, while a Festival of Food, a shopping village and vintage vehicles in the heritage area give older children and adults plenty to explore. The site is large and largely outdoors on grass, so sturdy footwear and a buggy with good wheels help. The showground also hosts other public shows through the year, including antiques and vintage fairs, so check the event calendar before you travel.
