Badgers Hill Farm sits on a working countryside site on the edge of Chilham village, near Canterbury. It combines a cafe and tearoom with a large garden centre, so a family visit can mix a relaxed meal with a wander among plants and shrubs. The site has an outdoor playground for children and a large grassed area where they can run about, and local press describes a variety of pet farm animals on the grounds. Indoor and outdoor seating both look out over the farm, which makes it easy to keep an eye on little ones while eating. Breakfasts, lunches, homemade cakes and an ice cream hut suit a stop of an hour or a whole afternoon. Dogs are welcome and parking is free. It suits families with younger children looking for a low-key outing in the Kent countryside rather than a ticketed attraction.
