A small, volunteer-run museum on the edge of Deal's historic centre that tells the story of the town, Walmer and the surrounding coast. The ground floor gallery focuses on the sea, with full-sized boats including a Deal galley, a Dunkirk Little Ship, a collection of model boats, and displays on the Goodwin Sands, smuggling and lifeboat rescues. The first floor covers the town's industrial and shopping past, with interactive quizzes that suit older children. A separate display in the old stable building covers the Royal Marines, whose long connection with Deal shaped the town. The museum is compact, so a visit can be done in an hour or so, which makes it a good rainy afternoon option for families staying on the Kent coast. Entry is free, with donations welcome.
