Kent MOMI is a not-for-profit museum on Stanhope Road in Deal, a short walk from the railway station and seafront. It traces the story of moving and projected images, from candle-lit magic lantern shows and hand-painted slides through Victorian visual experiments to the heyday of the cinema. The museum is housed in a converted building and runs changing special exhibitions, so there is usually something new to see. It suits older children and families who enjoy history, film or the mechanics of early entertainment. A café is on site, and the visit works well as an indoor option on a wet day on the Kent coast.
