The Micro Museum is a compact museum in central Ramsgate showing a private collection of vintage home computers, calculators, games consoles and electronics gathered over several decades. The displays focus on the home computing boom of the 1970s and 1980s, and visitors are encouraged to play on classic games consoles and computers as well as look at the exhibits. It suits children who are curious about how older technology worked, and older gamers who want to see the machines they grew up with. The rooms are small, so a visit is short and relaxed rather than a full day out. Opening is limited to afternoons on selected weekends and some summer weekdays, so families should check the dates before setting out. The museum is close to the harbour and the High Street, and is a reasonable rainy-day option in Thanet.
Seasonal: main season Easter to late September; winter opening is occasional.
