Knockando Woolmill is a historic working woollen mill beside the Speyside Way, a short way from the old Tamdhu railway station. The site has been on the same ground for more than two centuries, and the restored buildings still spin, card and weave local wool. Families can book a pre-arranged guided tour led by volunteer guides, who explain the history of the mill and show the collection of Victorian machinery, including an 1899 loom. The former byre has been converted into a visitor centre with exhibition space and a shop selling woollen throws, scarves and accessories. It suits older children interested in how things were made, and it works well as a stop for walkers and cyclists on the long-distance route. Because the tours are guided and time-limited, it is more a heritage visit than an activity venue for very young children.
