Ballindalloch Castle has been the home of the Macpherson-Grant family since it was started in 1546. One of the finest surviving examples of a Scottish Baronial Castle, it offers a tasteful blending of middle-ages fortification and Victorian gentrification.
Explore almost 500 years of Highland history, acres of formal gardens, woodlands and riverside walks, the children's playground, picnic area, Courtyard Café and Gift Shop. Guided tours of the castle are available, showcasing furnishings reflecting the wide interests and extensive travels of the Macpherson-Grant family.
The formal grounds were principally laid down in the second half of the 19th Century and have been planned to make the most of the soil and landscape throughout the year. Three distinct gardens await: the Rockery with fine views of the Castle, the classically formal Courtyard Garden, and the magnificent Walled Garden redesigned in 1996. The recommended visit time is around 2.5 hours for the full experience.
Open Easter through end of September. Grounds open daily from 10:00. Under 5s go free. Historic Houses members enjoy free entry.
