The Lion Salt Works is a restored industrial heritage site in Marston, near Northwich, where visitors can see how salt was made by the open-pan method. Families walk through the restored pan sheds, stoves and buildings to learn how the works operated and how salt shaped the local people, economy and landscape. The site is partly restored and is a scheduled monument, so the buildings feel authentic, though there are uneven floors and low head heights to watch for with small children. The visitor centre holds a café and gift shop. The museum runs family-friendly craft activities during school holidays and nature-themed sessions for pre-schoolers in term time, and it has lifts to the first floor and a hearing induction loop.
