The Museum of Policing in Cheshire is a registered charity that looks after the history of policing in the county. It sits inside a working police station in Warrington, so every visit is booked in advance and includes a guided tour led by the volunteer team. Displays include uniforms and insignia, handcuffs and truncheons, a replica police box, a recreated charge office and a Victorian police cell. There is also a collection of wartime photographs and material on the officers who served in Cheshire, from chief constables to special constables. Schools, scout and guide groups and families are welcomed, though the museum says it is not especially suited to groups of very young children. Because it is a working station, the visit suits older children and anyone interested in local history rather than a play-based outing.
